Can't we all just get along?

The "kerfuffle" over the caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad would seem to me a grand opportunity for the left and the right to, briefly, lay down their arms and join hands (or put down their handguns and join arms). I mean, this surely must be something to agree on. The left can defend free speech and celebrate this unmasking of fundamentalist religion. And the right can revel in Europeans -- the French, for chrissakes -- acting as proxies for their bigotry.

It's a win-win.

But other than Althouse, the blogospher is awfully quiet...
