That Alex Rodriguez trade may prove okay after all
Geez, what a game. To watch Mo Rivera cough up two runs in the eighth (a pitching change I questioned at the time) to let the Twinkies tie it, then watch Torii Hunter homer in the top of the twelfth...as a Yankee fan you know they can come back, but... Then to see Nathan come out to pitch his third inning of relief work, and then it all comes down to Jeter, Rodriguez, Sheffield, Matsui (and let us not forget little Miguel Cairo starting off the rally with a key walk). Fantastic.
Kevin Brown, coming off his self-inflicted broken hand, will pitch game three with Torre picking experience over Vazquez's inexperience (and lack of effectiveness in the second half), with a pitcher to be name later for game four (they're trying to reattach El Duque's right arm as we speak), and Minnesota will throw Santana and Radke out there for games four and (if necessary) five, both on three days rest. Oh my.
Like Sheffield says, I don't know how much more my heart can take.
Alex Belth has a good recap, and Batgirl gets a post-game pep talk from Torii.
On to the dreaded Metrodome.
