Doubled up in pain

Couldn't see the debate last night as I was at the Temple in the Bronx watching in frustration as the Yankees got a masterful pitching job out of Mike Mussina, Tom Gordon, and Mariano Rivera, but couldn't manage to score a run because of five -- count 'em -- five double plays they hit or ran into. Johann Santana was every bit a Cy Young award deserver as far as I could tell, and Torii Hunter is the best center fielder in the game today, but that was a bad performance by the Yankees hitters and base runners.

Gawd, in 2002 and 2003, we all worried about Yankee pitching in the post-season, but what actually did them in was a lack of timely hitting in key situations. Please don't tell me that while we're looking at the train wreck that is the starting rotation, it's the "Bronx Bombers" that do the team in.

I think they'll be back on track tonight, though, against Radke.

Regarding the debate, I TiVo'd it, so perhaps I'll watch it tomorrow, but maybe not. Doesn't seem like it will have much effect on the dynamic, unless you work for MSNBC.

This is pretty funny though.
