The McCain campaign agreed to the debate formats and the moderators, and unless they vetted the moderators as carefully as they did their VP pick, then I'm pretty sure they knew Gwyn Ifill was writing a book about Barack Obama and the changing landscape of African American politics.

But, of course, their comments -- contradictory as they seem to be -- are for the base and to further lower expectations for Palin.

But taking on Ifill is really stupid.

It only reinforces how small and petty McCain is.
