Griffey isn't in the lineup tonight against the lefty, Sabathia. So unless he pinch hits, that was probably his last at-bat in New York.
The homer was the 621st for Griffey, who has now gone deep in 44 ballparks. Only Sammy Sosa, with 45, has homered in more. Griffey, who is 39, was teammates with Rodriguez in Seattle and a long-ago opponent of Joe Girardi, the Yankees’ manager.

It was the 566th home run of Rodriguez’s career. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, it was the first time two players with at least 550 home runs had connected in the same game since Hank Aaron and Willie Mays did so on May 8, 1971.
