Who wants to be a Commerce Secretary?

Apparently Gregg's announcement caught the White House by surprise, and it seems really weird. After all, it was no secret what Obama wanted in the stimulus package and he seems to have gotten it (though the devil's in the details). And the census issue seems particularly contrived.
