Ready to pitch

Yankee haters got another reason yesterday.

It's a lot of money. The contract will cost the Yankees $7 million in luxury tax alone, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

That said, Clemens is 45 and he's been feasting on National League (or as we like to call it, "Triple A and a half") pitching for the past three years. So hang on. It's going to be an interesting summer.

But I'll hand it to Roger. Most players join the Yankees thinking they're joining a team destined for a world championship, as Clemens himself did back in 1999. This time, though, Clemens is joining a decimated rotation and a struggling team. This time he wants to be the hero, not just another veteran along for the ride.
