Surely they have A/V professionals in the White House, and surely, after six years in office, President Bush can begin a televised speech to the nation without beginning, "Am I on?"

What a performance. A few minutes into it, I turned to Madame Cura and said, "Watching this, I'm nostaligic for the reassuring tone of LBJ."

UPDATE: I wasn't the only thinking of LBJ. Looks like he gave a speech on January 10, 1967 that eerily foreshadows a speech on January 10, 2007.
