Bail Bonds, pt. 2

So, my high school buddy is being dragged through the mud, exposed as a human pin cushion and all-around not nice guy.

What's not being much noticed among the writers who don't like the fact that Bonds has always looked down on them and treated them like shit, is where all the evidence for the book came from.

Not defending Bonds. I think the guy's always had a massive chip on his shoulder, and turned what was already a great career (yes, Hall of Fame career long before he turned into the Incredible Hulk) into this sad and controversial end. But it sure bothers me in a way that I guess most of the press covering this aren't bothered (Mike Francessa and Chris Russo are pretty much alone in raising this): That someone in the Dept. of Justice must have provided a great deal of what's supposed to be sealed grand jury testimony to the authors. There's something wrong when the Feds use a guy they gave immunity to in exchange for testimony as a scapegoat for their failure to get longer terms for the Balco defendents. If they were pissed he lied to the grand jury, they could have gone after him for perjury at the time. They didn't. Instead, they helped these two reporters take him down.
