Storm clouds gather over our nation's horizons

Really, we liberols should be ashamed of ourselves. We search for ponies, gleefully witnessing a meltdown of corruption in the GOP. We revel in the knowledge that the Abramoff affair is but one embarrassing probe simmering away in Washington as a military appropriations scandal in which "Duke" "Wired" Cunningham may be just the tip of the berg; we delight in the news that the House majority leader will step down from his post under the weight of legal problems.

We should be upset in learning that those Republicans who swept into office on the heels of a Democrat scandal having something to do with kiting a few checks are themselves giving off the stench of corruption.

Because we're not just talking about Republicans here, people. We're talking about the republic. We should look into the camera, and like Iron Eyes Cody looking down at a littered landscape, shed a single tear for the republic we cherish.
