"Look out, he's got a bomb"

In his blog anyway. Reading Larry Johnson's post on the Fed. Air Marshal's shooting of Rigoberto Alpizar and, especially, the comments that follow provides a vertitable masters class in why the blogosphere can easily come to resemble the funhouse mirrors scene in Lady of Shanghai. Firing wildly at distorted images sets everyone involved up to look like lunatics, and they rarely hit their mark. What people will say -- and the vitriol with which they say it long before pretty much any facts are in -- is scary.

I know "rapid response" is a virtue of the blogosopher, but in cases like these it is best to keep one's powder dry until more facts are in. And even then, I predict, it will be hard not to just feel bad for everyone involved.
