Bubble boy

A few quotes from Newsweek's cover story this week.

A White House aide, who like virtually all White House officials (in this story and in general) refused to be identified for fear of antagonizing the president…

White House officials, as well as one of his closest friends (also speaking anonymously so as not to complicate relations with the president)…

One House Republican, who asked not to be identified for fear of offending the White House…

Isolated? Who's isolated.

Nothing new in the story, other than the reporters dig up yet more examples of Bush's peevishness in the face of less than good news or even "information." But the authors seem to go out of their way to write negative comments about Bill Clinton ("whiny," "chaotic," "bull sessions"), while alternately making Ronald Reagan a man of the people who loved nothing better than to tell shit jokes.

Oh yeah, the Immutable Law of Journalistic Balance is in play again.
