TEXAS: DIVORCE FINALIZED FOR MOTHER WHO KILLED HER CHILDREN The husband of Andrea Yates, who drowned the couple's five children in a bathtub, finalized their divorce in an agreement that gives Ms. Yates $7,000 in cash and the right to be buried near the children. Under the decree, her husband, Russell Yates, also agreed to give Ms. Yates part his retirement benefits from his employment at NASA. The family home has been sold. Ms. Yates, 40, was sentenced to life in prison for three of the 2001 drowning deaths, but the capital-murder convictions were overturned in January after an appeals court concluded that false testimony from an expert witness for the prosecution had influenced the jury.
