TEXAS: DIVORCE FINALIZED FOR MOTHER WHO KILLED HER CHILDREN The husband of Andrea Yates, who drowned the couple's five children in a bathtub, finalized their divorce in an agreement that gives Ms. Yates $7,000 in cash and the right to be buried near the children. Under the decree, her husband, Russell Yates, also agreed to give Ms. Yates part his retirement benefits from his employment at NASA. The family home has been sold. Ms. Yates, 40, was sentenced to life in prison for three of the 2001 drowning deaths, but the capital-murder convictions were overturned in January after an appeals court concluded that false testimony from an expert witness for the prosecution had influenced the jury. Some might say that a man who ignores his wife's inability to cope with caring for five children an accessory, but not in Texas.

If ignoring his wife's inability to cope with caring for their five children AND ignoring her obvious signs of mental illness don't make him an accessory, certainly continuing to impregnate her (against doctor's advice over concern for her mental well-being) for "religious and personal reasons" should.
So much for standing by his woman as he originally suggested he would. Any other devoutly religious woman considering marrying this guy should have her head examined. That Andrea Yates killed her five children isn't a reflection solely on herself. He was an Enabler of the first degree.
Well put, Karen.
