I would provide attribution, but I can't recall who suggested that some intrepid White House reporter, after being rebuffed by the President when asked to give his plan's details witht he reply, "I won't negotiate with myself," should in turn respond, "I don't blame you, sir. I wouldn't negotiate with you, either."
Bush claimed yesterday that "private accounts" is an "add-on" which, looking at any version of the plan he's hinted at thus far, is simply untrue.
Snow told reporters that Bush also has not ruled out embracing a plan backed by many Democrats to create government-subsidized personal savings accounts outside the existing system. White House officials are privately telling Republicans that Bush is opposed to the idea but does not want to say so because it would appear he is not willing to compromise.
