Nader tells Detroit: "I take it all back. You're good guys, after all."

Or something like that, now that he's accepted the Michigan GOP's help in getting on the state ballot. The good bartender at The Whiskey Bar has an extensive look at Nader's sickness.

My guess is that in the end Nader's reasons for treachery aren't all that much different from Benedict Arnold's - it's the vanity and resentment of a hero who's seen the laurels of respect and influence he thinks are his due go to lesser mortals instead. Combine that with the towering rage of a prophet ignored, and it's the perfect combination for betrayal.

I'd mix in a dollop of delusions of grandeur along with a quart of urgings-on by starry-eyed yes-men, all the while greasing the cookie tray with a generous smearing of "he always was an asshole posing as a consumer advocate," and you've got a smelly, putrid concoction that tastes like four more years of Bush.
