A true American rock 'n roller -- the irony of him dying of cardiac arrest on a day of the true American phenomenon of mass murder by dint of modified automatic weapons in Las Vegas is almost too much. It should have been captured in a Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers song.

Can't say enough about his band and the fact that they remained largely the same personnel for 40 years.
