Hip checked

My mood, already bad, just got a lot worse. Rodriguez out for at least 10 weeks, according to ESPN (and what is it with Dominicans and the fluidity of their last names? Dunand, Rodriguez, pick one for C's sake). The Yankees show their typical transparency when it comes to injuries.

Not good. Not good at all.

UPDATE: Cashman says no surgery since that would relieve them of the greatest player in the game for up to four months. Given how he's been hitting this spring training, taking March off doesn't seem like a big deal.

“It doesn’t mean it’s going to get worse, it doesn’t mean it won’t get worse,” Cashman said. “That’s the gray area, that’s what we’re all trying to figure out. It’s in our best interest, because he’s such an asset. Part of the conservative treatment is to limit his spring training. If we’re going to try to see if we can get through the season with it, let’s shorten the pounding he’ll be taking.”

Also updated to make more sense.
