Columbia -- the lost years
Hmmm, I was just speculating about Obama's days at Columbia College in the City of New York, where we both arrived in 1981 (he with a lei around his neck, me with the Grateful Dead shirt and cowboy boots). Sure enough, the World Wingnut Daily Wall Street Journal speculates too!
I'm kidding about the lei.
I'm kidding about the lei.

Still waiting for the post about how inappropriate all the inaugural balls are (see http://vegacura.blogspot.com/2004/12/war-sacrifice-and-texas-tuxedo-and.html)...
Irony? No, hypocricy. But don't fret. You aren't alone
Ah, busted! There is something Talmudic in your close reading.
But in fact I did post something about the inaugural events -- something about unfair comparisons and economic stiumuli: http://vegacura.blogspot.com/2009/01/apples-and-oranges-or-media-analysis.html
I also linked to the Bull Moose in that earlier post, something I regret more than any hypocrisy. And a few other things have changed -- the celebration yesterday was a joyful, relatively inclusionary bunch of events, celebrating, among other things, the end of a disastrous eight year term and the winding down of a war of choice. It was not a "Boots and Ball" celebration of all things obnoxiously Texan.
Thanks for the comment and the debate. It's a fair point, though one I disagree with.
I was wondering what happened to my t-shirt
