Justice Dept. referrals

Waxman's oversight committee could request the DOJ to investigate lots of things. Lack of proper equipment for troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The refusal by the White House to include war spending in its budget. Karl Rove's involvement in the Siegelman case and the rest of the sordid Attorneys General firings. The CIA's destruction of torture tapes.

Oh, and whether
Clemens took a shot of lidocaine or HGH in the ass half a decade a go, then lied about it to an outraged Henry Waxman. Now that's government oversight.

In a letter sent to Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform said it could not definitively say if Clemens had lied under oath during its investigation into his challenge of accusations contained in the report on baseball and drugs prepared by George J. Mitchell. But the committee said it believed that the Justice Department should pursue the matter.
Well, since the Mukasey pretty much ignores all Congressional requests, this probably won't go too far, but regardless, what a waste of time.
