A Springer Fan Takes a Risk

Some people will do just about anything to get on television. For Mario Sims, 21, an accused child molester, this meant cutting off his electronic monitoring bracelet and hopping into a limousine for a ride from Racine, Wis., to Chicago to appear on “The Jerry Springer Show,” The Associated Press reported. Racine County Circuit Judge Emily Mueller set bail at $50,000 on Friday for Mr. Sims, 21, who had been awaiting trial on 2004 charges of child enticement and first-degree sexual assault of a child. Though his lawyer, Margaret Johnson, argued against Mr. Sims’s bail amount, Judge Mueller stood firm, saying, “A significant bond is legally necessary given the fact he absconded, admittedly for one of the more unique reasons I’ve heard in my time on the bench.”

All of this has me wondering: Perhaps we deserve to have a presidential administration and its courtiers straight out of Rome, without the sex.
