Moral demands

Canvassed for Lamont today. Unfortunately, my partner and I were given a working class neighborhood where people, ya know, were working. Think we convinced a net of three voters to vote for Lamont, but encountered a lot of voters already so angry at Bush that they'd vote for a mangy dog rather than Lieberman. Felt pretty good. Energized by the power of participatory democracy!

The overriding theme among the volunteers (lots of them veteran canvassers compared to your greenhorn correspondent) was the feeling that this is one we just can't sit out; that we couldn't live with ourselves if Lamont loses and we'd done nothing.

And, besides, got the bonus of seeing Maura at work.

Didn't see any of Bloomberg's paid informants or even any Liebergoons. Too bad. We ended up in an Irish bar for a rally with Lamont and Black 47...we would have kicked their asses.

Help out if you can. Thanks.
