"Disturbing and beyond the pale"

That's what Peter Hoekstra, the Republican chairman of the House Intelligence Committe had to say about a report highlighting Randy Cunningham's many abuses. But were his harsh words in response to finding that "Duke" Cunningham had helped "steer more than $70 million in classified federal business to favored military contractors?" Or that he "repeatedly abused his position on the committee to authorize money for military projects, often over the objections of staff members who criticized some of the spending as wasteful?" Or even that "[t]he inquiry also found that despite numerous 'red flags' about the propriety of a particular contract for work on a controversial Pentagon counterintelligence program, committee staff members for three years 'continued to accept and support Mr. Cunningham’s growing requests for this project?'"

Nope. What Hoekstra found so "disturbing and beyond the pale," was the fact that "[t]he report on Mr. Cunningham was made public by Representative Jane Harman of California, the senior Democrat on the Intelligence Committee."
