Harriet Miers's loyalty oath
Erik Muller has been listening to tapes of a White House conference call meant to shore up wavering conservatives to get behind the Miers nomination. The preznit's argument in her favor last week was, "trust me." In the conference call, the White House is a little more specific about what that means: "Trust me because Harriet will be loyal to me, will continue to be my stooge, and will vote for what she believes in (wink, wink)."
They make no attempt to hide the fact that she was tapped for no other reason than she can be trusted to support the Cheney administration's policies and war conduct. They are, in a sense, packing the Nuremburg court.
