Do-goody-good bullshit

The DCCC has a great new site, Tom DeLay's House of Scandal. It is a useful roadmap to the sleaze-operation that is DeLay Inc. (and of course, "DeLay Inc." is used in the most literal of senses). Of special note, you can look up your Republican Congressman and get a quick rundown of his ties with DeLay, in my case, "The Hypocracy of the Shays." And you can watch an enjoyable video featuring Pink Floyd's "Money."

The market's falling. Gas prices are exploding. The superiority and cost-effectiveness of the U.S. healthcare system is a lie. The national debt is fast reaching Reaganesque proportions. Republicans are focused on sending us back to the gilded age (yes, yes, you can look on the bright side and say that at least your young children can expect to have jobs).

Tom DeLay, George W. Bush, and the rest of the festering collection of no-account greedheads make Tammany Hall look like a reform party. Hell, at least Boss Tweed made improvements to New York, even if they collected huge bribes on the improvements. They could differentiate between honest and dishonest graft. Today, the Greed Over Principle party collects the bribes and then goes ahead and screws their constituents anyway.

It used to be said that sailors did not learn to swim because to do so would merely prolong the act of drowning. Perhaps there's something to that. Perhaps we should forget how to swim against the shit tide that is spewing from Republican-controlled Washington and just go with the flow downstream. It will have the desired benefit of quickening the end and we won't have to swallow so much of the flotsam we're struggling against.
